The Coordinator reports to the clinic/department Leader and is responsible for the coordination of the day-to-day activities within the assigned clinical/department pod. The Coordinator will perform duties under supervision and may provide direction and instruction to support staff. With primary focus on exemplary patient experience they will assist with and coordinate patient care processes during clinic hours to minimize wait times and bottle necks and optimize physician and department/clinic resources.
Coordinator within the Department of Neurology as assigned to subspecialty or responsibility across subspecialties (i.e. Medication Prior Authorizations EMGs Multiple Sclerosis Neuromuscular Headache etc.). Coordinates appointments at Keck outpatient and inpatient settings; maintains schedule ensures authorization and records are received as outlined by attending provider. Coordinate scheduling of procedures such as IV Infusion EMG skin and muscle biopsies multidisciplinary clinics and genetic testing. Stratifies patients based upon presentation of medical records; determines urgency and appropriateness of appointments in collaboration with Nursing and Faculty. Obtains/delegates authorization requests and coordinates diagnostic testing for patients as ordered by neuroscience provider. Triage patient calls to licensed personnel when medical judgment or advice warranted. May perform Medical Assistant duties as needed: Escorts patients to exam rooms obtains and appropriately records patient vital signs/medication list monitors patient flow assists physicians with clinical procedures (EMGs) prepares patient chart with pertinent medical information. Performs various office and clerical duties. Ensures patients right to privacy safety and confidentiality is maintained. Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards policies and safety regulations. Ensures compliance with infection control policies. Assists manager/director with survey readiness (maintain exam rooms hallways storage areas). Order and restock medical/office supplies as needed. Assists entire department (25 attendings) with medication prior authorization and refill notice to attending neurologist via electronic or paper method. Other duties as assigned.
