We have a new vacancy for a Clinical Prosthetist/Orthotist in our Wellington Centre. This role will work across both prosthetics and orthotics and you will have the opportunity to be part of the growth and development of our orthotic service in the Central region. Therefore we are seeking a highly motivated clinician who is patient focussed with a positive outlook!

Along with strong clinical experience the ideal applicant for this role will have the ability to do some technical work if required. You will need to be competent in managing your own workflow within a set budget and have an interest in using CAD technology to create prosthetic and orthotic devices.

As Clinical Prosthetist/Orthotist you will connect with our team of prosthetist/orthotists physios technicians and medical specialists and have an integral role in providing a world class service to our patients.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

Undertake assessments of patients to clearly identify their needs and aspirations

Empower and consult with your patients to clearly understand their individual goals and howthey relate to their rehabilitation and lifestyle needs

Actively participate in patient clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings to appropriatelyprescribe prosthetic and orthotic devices and contribute to your patients rehabilitation plan

Develop and deliver the most appropriate rehabilitation programme in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team including external allied professionals

Work collaboratively with the Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist / Nurse to make timelyand appropriate referrals to provide a wraparound service to patients

Prescribe and fit prosthetic and orthotic devices to enable patients to achieve their individualgoals

Champion your patients maximum prosthetic and orthotic usage by proactively modifyingadjusting and repairing their device and integrating your individual service into the widerrehabilitation team

Ensure clinical service decisions (including prescriptions) are supported by appropriate andtimely clinical notes evidence based assessment tools applications and plans which are allclearly documented in Maanaki

The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship building/communication skills along with the following skillset (aligned to our strategic objectives) and a genuine interest in helping Peke Waihanga achieve these objectives:

• Service to prescribe and fit orthotic devices to enable patients to achieve their individual goals. Actively participate in patient clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings to appropriately prescribe orthotic devices and contribute to your patients rehabilitation plan.
• Expert Workforcea degree in prosthetics and orthotics or equivalent with demonstrated relevant experience as an Orthotist.
• R&D/Technology a passion for embracing technology and research to improve the patient experience and outcomes for patients; and a strong desire to continually improve processes and standards to gain operational efficiencies.
• Equity a desire to provide patients with access to technology and service based on need.
