Are you a skilled professional in inventory and resource management eager to make a real difference and meaningful impact on animal welfare
As the Animal Shelter Capacity Coordinator youll coordinate daily animal flow at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. Your expertise in inventory management resource allocation and logistics will be key to developing and executing plans that address daily and seasonal capacity challenges. We need someone who can navigate high-pressure situations with clear decision-making and emotional intelligence driving operational efficiency and positive outcomes. This position requires the employee to be in the office and or customer-facing for all hours worked.

We Require
Two years of professional experience coordinating inventory resource management or logistics
Experience in animal care veterinary hospital humane society or another related animal facility
Associates degree in Business Administration Animal Care and Behavior or a similar field
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire a valid Arizona drivers license
Candidates must be flexible to work weekends and holidays with any combination of days off determined by the needs of the Department.

Experience working in animal care with domestic animals in a veterinary hospital animal control humane society or another animal facility
Bilingual Spanish and English-speaking skills
Job Contributions
Lead the Capacity for Care program by monitoring daily shelter capacity and coordinating the teams response
Collaborate with intake field adoption foster rescue and transfer teams to manage admissions prioritize cases schedule appointments and keep animals moving smoothly through the system
Facilitate daily meetings to share updates on population levels urgent needs and action plans
Track shelter population trends and manage housing to prevent overcrowding and support animal well-being
Make quick data-driven decisions to manage length of stay and prioritize timely placements
Oversee animal transfers between shelter locations and offsite adoption centers
Monitor key performance metrics to optimize resource use and meet goals
Conduct regular housing rounds to ensure animals are cared for properly and address concerns promptly
Continuously evaluate and improve the program to meet community needs and department objectives
Working Conditions
Exerting 20-25 lbs. occasionally 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Work is predominantly performed in an animal shelter with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures excessive noise dogs and cats with unknown temperaments or behaviors animal waste and fluids deceased animals cleaning chemicals and zoonotic diseases. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on all types of surfaces that are sometimes slippery uneven and rough
