Senior Research Analyst Upstream Team

About the Role
Wood Mackenzie is seeking a curious analytical and collaborative Senior Research Analyst to join our Upstream Research team in Rio de Janeiro.
In this role youll combine deep analytical work with strategic insight to help clients understand upstream portfolios asset performance and emissions in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape. Your research will directly inform high-impact decisions made by energy companies investors and governments around the world.

What Youll Do
Deliver high-quality research and analysis on upstream assets companies and market trends across the global oil and gas sector.
Maintain and enhance asset-level valuations cost structures and emissions profiles using Wood Mackenzies proprietary models.
Interpret complex datasets to identify strategic opportunities risks and trade-offs for clients.
Collaborate with colleagues across regions and disciplines to ensure consistency accuracy and clarity in research outputs.
Engage with industry stakeholders to validate assumptions and gather market intelligence.
Produce clear compelling written and visual content including reports presentations and client briefings.
Support clients with portfolio benchmarking investment analysis and long-term strategic decision-making.
What You Bring
A Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering Economics Geoscience or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Typically 5 years of experience in upstream oil and gas research consulting or related industry roles.
A solid understanding of upstream operations asset economics and fiscal regimes - or the ability to quickly learn and apply these concepts.
Experience with valuation models and/or emissions analysis is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Comfort working with data analysis and visualisation tools such as Excel Power BI or Python.
Intellectual curiosity attention to detail and an interest in how the energy system is evolving.
