The Opportunity
Halifax Water is hiring for two Safety / Security / Environmental (SSE) Advisor. This 6-12 month term opportunity is in the Environment Health and Safety Department and has full time hours.
This job is a unionized job under CUPE Local 1431. The job description and benefits to working at Halifax Water can be viewed on the Halifax Water website (Work for Halifax Water Halifax Water).
As a SSE Advisor you will:
- Assist the Manager of Safety and Security in ensuring regulatory compliance and effective implemenation of Halifax Waters integrated managmeent system.
- Assist with the maintannece continuous improvement and promotion of Halifax Waters safety and environmental sustainability culture and associated policies procedures and best practices.
To do this job you need to:
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Professional certifications in the area of occupational health and safety
- Five years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety background with related experience in JOHSC training conducting risk assessments and audits
- Have or be working towards obtaining the Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) designation or equivalent
- Have a valid NS drivers license
- Training and experience in Trenching Excavation Fall Arrest Confined Space Lock Out Tag Out and Operating and/or instruction in the safe operation of heavy equipment.
