Assistant Teaching Professor and Accreditation Officer Education Studies

The Education Studies Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor and Accreditation Officer position beginning fall 2026. This is a renewable appointment with responsibilities in teaching and teacher education program in the Education Studies Department prepare students for initial certification in New York State grades 1-6. In addition the Departments on-campus lab school the Early Childhood Center provides a resource for teaching and research. The Education Studies Department holds national accreditation with AAQEP. Seven years of accreditation was granted in January 2023.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 3 courses (12 credits) per year in curriculum and instruction elementary teaching methods (e.g. science social studies).
  • Accreditation Officer responsibilities include staying current on standards requirements and expectations of our accreditation agency (AAQEP); managing data collection and analysis; completing annual accreditation reports; preparing for and co-writing the Quality Assurance Report required for reaccreditation; and preparing and managing the campus visit of the AAQEP review team for reaccreditation.
  • Contribute to department initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a PhD/EdD degree in Education
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college and/or elementary level
  • A robust commitment to undergraduate teacher education within a liberal arts context
  • Experience with teacher education program accreditation
