Idaho Power located in vibrant Boise Idaho is looking for a Battery Energy Storage Technician or Entry Technician to join our Planning Engineering and Construction team. Its an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. This position is based at Idaho Powers Operations Center in West Boise.
What does a Battery Energy Storage Technician do for us
The Battery Energy Storage Technician maintains and operates Idaho Power battery energy storage systems (BESS) and associated electrical substation equipment. The BESS technician inspects work performed by contractors on BESS sites and ensures contractors are following applicable safety practices technical specifications and compliance requirements while on site. The BESS technician responds to BESS operational and emergency alarms during and outside regular business hours as part of a 24/7 on call rotation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to bend stoop squat crouch crawl climb into and out of vehicles ascend/ descend ladders twist kneel balance and reach. Job requires the ability to work alone for long periods of time in the field often in adverse weather conditions / temperatures on uneven and slick terrain within proximity of energized equipment and occasionally working in enclosed spaces. Continuous standing walking gripping and bending when performing work in field. Maneuver and navigate around construction areas. Ability to drive in all weather conditions. Occasionally lift/carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. Pushing of up to 110 lbs. force and pulling of up to 140 lbs. force is required occasionally to open /close disconnects fuses and air brakes. Frequently use foot controls when operating vehicles grasp hold and manipulate items tools or keyboards. Perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self others or property. This job may require the performance of additional tasks assigned by company leaders or management. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Completion of the following required Idaho Power Training: PPE Job Site Protection Lockout/Tagout Hazard Communication Confined Enclosed/Space. Completion of BESS manufacturer-specific certification training. Occasional overnight stays required. Complete DOT PHMSA 49 CFR Part 172 required hazardous materials employee training within 90 days.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Technicians work under supervision are embedded in Idaho Power regional areas and must live within regionally established distances from operations centers. Technicians may be required to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with leader approval and often travel inside. Technicians work in various conditions including confined spaces heights of up to 80 feet and inclement weather.
