Part-Time lecturer for DF2005 Writing for Film
The School of Art Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University Singapore invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time Lecturer for DF2005 Writing for Film. The Part-Time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate core course commencing in January 2026.
DF2005 Writing for Film is a 13-week course designed to introduce students to screenwriting covering the professional practice of developing writing and rewriting short film scripts in a collaborative workshop environment. Students will analyse dramatic construction narrative techniques and story structure in finished films and screenplays while also drafting and revising their own scripts. Alongside this students will learn to communicate their story ideas effectively in pitch presentations and discussions and develop the ability to critique both their own and their peers writing in a clear constructive manner. Upon completing the course students will have significantly advanced their screenwriting practice.
Applicants to this position will be able to demonstrate expertise in overseeing the audio aspect of students projects related to digital filmmaking from initial concept screenwriting production and post-production to the final sound mix. Applicants will be able to demonstrate passion in guiding students in exploring the possibilities of audio for film in a variety of forms which may include traditional scripted filmmaking serialized content non-scripted content and short-format videos.
Successful candidates will have a relevant Masters and/or PhD in audio or related field with a track record of creative practice in film production. Past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelors degree in Film Production or related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
