About the Role
The purpose of the Carer Assessor QLD role is to facilitate and complete the assessment process of carer applicants and to ensure the assessment process is undertaken in accordance with Life Without Barriers standards and procedures.
In this role youll complete high-quality carer assessments home visits and reviews to ensure carers are prepared and supported to provide safe nurturing environments for children and young people. Using the CARE model youll identify strengths training needs and risks while fostering reflective practice with applicants. You may also contribute to carer engagement activities and provide mentoring support to colleagues where required.
This role is offered as a max-term contract through to 30 June 2026 with the potential for extension and is based at our Ipswich office.
Key Responsibilities
Complete carer assessments home visits and referee checks in line with LWB standards.
Prepare clear strengths-based written reviews and reports.
Identify training needs safety concerns or placement issues and recommend solutions.
Support carers to reflect on the impact of the caring role on their lives and families.
Participate in Carer Assessment Panels when required.
Build and maintain strong relationships with applicants internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications Skills & Experience
Recognised degree in Social Work Psychology or related field (eligibility for AASW highly regarded).
Significant experience in child and family welfare including carer assessments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills able to have honest and at times difficult conversations.
Knowledge and experience of the CARE model of therapeutic care (desirable).
Demonstrated ability to identify training needs and areas for improvement with carers.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within timeframes.
Current drivers licence.
