AWS L2 Support Engineer with Project Management Experience

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled AWS L2 Support Engineer who can seamlessly transition between providing expert technical support and managing key infrastructure projects. This hybrid role is crucial for ensuring the stability and performance of our AWS environment while also driving forward strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver at heart with a strong grasp of both AWS services and project management principles.
Key Responsibilities AWS L2 Support
- Serve as a primary point of escalation for complex AWS-related incidents and service requests.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across a variety of AWS services including EC2 S3 RDS Lambda and VPC.
- Monitor system performance and health proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement solutions and best practices.
- Maintain and update technical documentation runbooks and knowledge base articles.
Project Management
- Lead and manage small to medium-sized projects related to AWS infrastructure enhancements migrations or new service deployments.
- Develop project plans timelines and resource allocation strategies.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.
- Track project progress identify risks and communicate updates to senior management.
- Facilitate project meetings document decisions and manage action items.
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
- 6-8 years of hands-on experience in a technical support or system administration role with a strong focus on AWS.
- Proven experience with a wide range of AWS services (e.g. EC2 S3 IAM VPC CloudFormation).
- Solid understanding of Linux/Windows operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Demonstrated experience in a project management capacity including planning and coordination.
- Strong problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate.
- Experience with agile project management methodologies.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g. Jenkins GitLab CI).
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
