Role Title: Student Worker Mechanical Engineering

Position Overview

This is a technical student worker role supporting two engineering teams. The position is similar to previous internship roles but reclassified as student worker. The role will run through end of June 2026 with potential for extension based on performance and continued enrollment.

Key Requirements
  • Education:

    • Preferred: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
    • Open to other technical degrees if relevant
  • Skills:

    • Strong technical aptitude
    • CAD software experience (preferred)
    • Statistics knowledge (preferred)
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Work Schedule:

    • Minimum 20 hours/week
    • Open to part-time or full-time depending on candidate availability
    • Hybrid work model acceptable
    • On-site requirement: 8 hours/week minimum ideally in blocks of 4 hours
    • Recommended on-site day: Tuesdays (team meetings)
  • Location:

    • Currently based in Chatsworth office
    • Office relocation to Calabasas expected (TBD possibly as early as November 2025)
    • Candidate must be comfortable working in both locations
Interview Process
  • Initial Screening:

    • Candidates will be pre-qualified by recruiters before submission
    • Use of HireVue video interviews for screening
  • Live Interview:

    • One round 1-hour conducted jointly by Samuel and Arshak or with their manager Henry as alternate
  • Candidate Pipeline:

    • One shared pipeline for both teams
    • Slight differences in job descriptions but same core role
    • Managers will select two candidates from the shared pool

Compensation & Budget
  • Aligned with summer internship compensation
  • Hourly Pay Rate Range: BR2 - BR/hour

Lets Talk About Responsibilities:

As a Student Worker Mechanical Engineering you will work directly with talented individuals of all levels. With guidance from a departmental leader you will work on:

  • Supporting research and development activities and product development activities by performing research design analysis design envelope testing (sensitivity analysis) as applicable to the motorized blower system as a whole or subassembly components.

  • Developing test systems in support of design analysis activities.

  • Performing testing collecting and analyzing test data using engineering software computer aided design and code scripting as necessary to support statistical analysis.

  • Writing detailed engineering reports based on development activities and data analysis.

  • Facilitating laboratory test installation qualifications and report writing activities.

The right candidate for this position will be expected to know commonly used concepts practices and procedures within the mechanical engineering product development process and rely on mentorship instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the jobs functions.

This is strongly preferred to be an on-site role located at our ResMed facility in Chatsworth and/or Calabasas California. Candidates will be asked to be available to participate in on-site/remote team meetings.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Ability to work part-time or full-time.

  • Engineering academic studies that will lead to a Bachelors or Masters Degree (preferably mechanical).

  • Experience with mechanical engineering design and analysis statistical analysis outstanding writing skills and excellent data analysis skills with scripting capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Extensive CAD background specializing in PTC Creo (SolidWorks is acceptable).

  • Solid foundation in statistical analysis and data interpretation using Excel Minitab or JMP.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong experiences as demonstrated through projects research or mechanical engineering internships.

  • Great interpersonal relations team cooperation and communication skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations.

  • Exceptional communication skills and interest and enthusiasm related to medical technology industry and a career with ResMed.
