Position Summary
Provides diagnostic therapeutic and preventive health care services to patients either directly or through subordinates by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Examines patients performs comprehensive physical examination and compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Develops routine and standing medical orders and provides guidance to CKF medical staff in implementation.
  • Orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray electrocardiogram and laboratory tests.
  • Assist Medical Director to develop and implement prescription medication protocols and management plans.
  • Prescribes medications when appropriate; and participates in patient management either directly or by use of telemedicine equipment.
  • Reviews and signs patient management plans at least weekly or as needed.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens normal growth and development family planning emotional problems of daily living and health maintenance.
  • Participates with CKF medical staff to coordinate appropriate placement of acute detoxification patients.
  • Serves as the medical liaison between CKF and Salina Regional Health Center Salina Family Health Care as related to SBIRT.
  • Performs rounds on patients identified by CKF staff at Salina Regional as in need of addiction medicine services and oversight
  • Remain certified by completing the required number of continuing medical education courses every two years; including Suboxone certifications.
  • Meets with appropriate detoxification/residential nursing staff to review workflow and patient care protocols to ensure an integrated team model.
  • Meets with telehealth and clinic personnel to review workflow and patient care protocols related to psychiatry and MAT to ensure an integrated team model.
  • Collaborates with intake and billing teams to ensure all required documentation is accurately completed and submitted prior to the initiation of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in accordance with regulatory and program guidelines.
  • Supports program staff in identifying and verifying patients who meet eligibility criteria for participation in grant-funded services ensuring appropriate utilization of available resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises nursing staff and nursing manager in the Residential Detox and Outpatient Clinic as to the specific medical needs of patients based on medical protocol. Day to day operation supervision will go through the Residential Director.
Education and Experience
Graduation from Nurse Practitioner Program with an accredited school of nursing with an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license to practice in the State of Kansas. Board certified Family Practitioner and Psych/Mental Health Practitioner desired but not required.
Certificates Licenses and Registrations
  • APRN required
  • Current State of Kansas medical license
  • Eligible for hospital privileges
  • Waiver to prescribe Buprenorphine to 100 patients per year
