Our client a well-established accountancy practice based in Cannock is seeking an experiencedPractice Payroll Officer to join their team. This is a permanent office-based position offering a competitive salary and the opportunity to work in a supportive and professional environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate compliant and timely payroll services to approximately 250 clients. This is a full start-to-finish role requiring strong technical knowledge excellent organisational skills and proven experience working within an accountancy practice.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of around 250 clients.
Submit pension contributions and ensure compliance with auto-enrolment.
Process and calculate CIS payments.
Generate and provide payroll reports to clients.
Administer statutory payments and deductions including SSP SMP SPP and NI.
Ensure accurate and timely submissions to HMRC.
Respond to and resolve payroll queries from clients.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate payroll records.
Assist with year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds.
Candidate Requirements
Essential: Payroll experience gained within an accountancy practice.
Strong understanding of payroll legislation pensions and CIS requirements.
Proficient in Sage Line 50 Payroll.
Good working knowledge of Excel (including formulas and reporting).
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
