This position reports to the CREW Field Office located at 23998 Corkscrew Road Estero FL 33928.
The Land Management Unit within the Districts Land Resources Bureau oversees the planning and implementation of natural resources management functions on District conservation lands. The Land Management Technician 2 within the Districts West Coast Land Management Region is a highly skilled technician level position responsible for implementing resource and public use land management functions on conservation and project lands located in Lee and Collier counties.
This position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of all Regional land management functions including:
Operating myriad equipment to perform infrastructure maintenance and vegetation management activities such as road grading replacing culverts mowing trails discing/tilling fire breaks shredding woody vegetation and clearing debris.
Working with the Districts Public Use and Wildlife Unit to maintain recreational and public use facilities.
Assisting with the coordination and implementation of all Regional prescribed fire and assisting efforts throughout the District when needed.
Handling mixing and applying herbicides for the management of nuisance vegetation.
Conducting routine maintenance of tools equipment and facilities.
Monitoring contractors conducting vegetation management infrastructure maintenance and restoration activities.
Employment Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 4 years experience operating earthmoving equipment including farm tractors and practical experience in basic land management functions including invasive plant control vegetation management prescribed burning and natural lands property management including some lead work or supervisory experience. The salary range for this position is $51854.40 to $54620.80.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Licenses: Valid State of Florida Drivers License. Possession or ability to acquire a State of Florida Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) a State of Florida Pesticide Applicators License and a State of Florida Prescribed Burners Certification within 180 days of hire date.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment: This position primarily works in the field with regular exposure to hot humid and smoky environments in remote wet and/or heavily vegetated areas. Incumbentmay be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Due to the Districts response role and in the total scope of emergency management this position may at times be required to provide support before during and after major storm events and emergency situations such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies depending on assigned emergency response role.
