As the Plumber at Edinburgh Castle your primary role will be the responsibility for day-to-day maintenance of hot and cold-water services within the Edinburgh Region carry out maintenance on drainage rhones and cast-iron systems and daily checks of public toilets prior to opening and staff toilets. The applicant will be an integral part of the Monument Conservation Unit (MCU) Team who deliver the annual programme of works and provide support to the Visitor & Community Team ensuring that Edinburgh Regions buildings are maintained to a five-star level. Furthermore you will work on conservation projects to preserve and protect one of Edinburghs most visited tourist attractions. The team is headed by the Lead Craftsperson Manager who has direct line management responsibilities for the whole team.
The successful candidate will be expected to work at any location within the Edinburgh region as directed by the Lead Craftsperson.
Official transport is provided to and from the various sites within District and beyond. Individuals are however expected to make their own way to the MCU Depot.
The post holder may also be asked to travel using HES transport to other remote sites sometimes out with of the district which may include overnight stays.
