About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Rapid Delivery Officer to join Birmingham City Councils Transport this pivotal role youll lead the development and delivery of transport infrastructure projects that keep our city moving. Working closely with internal teams developers and external partners such as HS2 and the Combined Authority youll ensure projects are designed and implemented on time within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified transport or highways engineer with strong project management skills and technical expertise in traffic management to make a tangible impact on the citys infrastructure and growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead on the design delivery and handover of transport infrastructure projects and programmes ensuring compliance with project governance budget and quality standards.
  • Provide expert traffic management and technical advice to support school travel plans and healthy street initiatives.
  • Work proactively to identify and implement traffic management solutions in line with council policies and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
  • Collaborate with external partners including developers and public bodies to deliver third-party and jointly promoted schemes.
  • Develop technical specifications scheme designs transport assessments bids and business cases to support project delivery.
  • Oversee and manage contract implementation procurement and risk management processes.
  • Lead public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities to ensure projects are inclusive and well-communicated.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and resources effectively.
  • Represent the Transport Division at internal and external meetings championing Birminghams transport vision.
