Are you ready to make a global impact through sustainability Were looking for a (Senior) Consultant to strengthen our Global Sustainability Expertise team and drive meaningful change.
The Sustainability Expertise team delivers core expertise to our entire organisation on Climate Nature and Human Rights (the core themes of our Global Sustainability Direction).
We are specifically looking for candidates who can help the delivery of our Social theme (and act as our Social SPOC) but also encourage candidates with a broader sustainability profile to apply.
Roles and responsibilities
Act as first contact point for the (Sr) Consultants in the Expertise team and lead the end-to-end coordination with regards to the execution and implementation of our Social theme (methodology and implementation thereof in the organisation).
Work for 60% on Social and the other 40% on other sustainability theme(s) within one of the clusters of the team.
Deliver sound expertise and work together with theme lead and consultants to develop new methodologies and expand our current approaches for Social.
Support the Leads in connecting Social (Just Transition) with the other sustainability themes Climate and Nature and work together with the theme Leads and SPOCs on creating the interlinked strategy and the execution thereof.
Develop (together with the Social Program Lead) and implement methodologies to quantify impact once developed make sure the implementation lands within our operations organisation.
Define and implement governance structures and execution plans that support complex cross-functional delivery within and do so within boundaries and expectations for internal KPI monitoring and external (audited) disclosures and or submission to external regulators.
Initiate and coordinate cluster overarching activities and be the liaison for the team towards other departments (within and outside Global Sustainability).
Be part of one of the (relevant for the theme) Clusters within the Expertise team and within that capacity support the development of methodologies and approaches for INGs sustainability strategy.
Support the shaping and influencing of (upcoming) standards and regulation (e.g. deliver input for consultations and/or share views on impacts thereof internally).
Lead internal and external working groups where ING works together with other organisations to create coalitions for action.
Translate stakeholder needs and trends into practical advice and actions/objectives for (specific parts of) the organisation.

Sound expertise on Climate Nature and Social and how these themes are relevant for a Financial Institution through work-experience and education.
Ability to develop (further) specific methodologies used to help drive our sustainability themes and in line with external stakeholders (including supervisors and regulators) expectations.
Strong project management skills ability to deliver within strict deadlines and report on progress while working on multiple projects/topics at the same time and deliver high-quality results.
Stakeholder management skills and ability to connect with internal stakeholders and understand their needs.
Flexible and adaptive mind set as sustainability is in a constant transition being able to spot changes coming and act by making the trend relevant for ING.
Specific requirements to act as our Social SPOC: understanding how we apply the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights); solid stakeholder management skills and ability to connect with internal stakeholders and understand their needs w.r.t. Social theme (for example: HR ESG Risk Procurement business lines).
>5 years of relevant working experience (preferably within financial institutions or relevant consultancy)
