As a School Nutrition Worker you will play an essential role in supporting student health and academic success by ensuring the provision of nutritious well-balanced meals in a safe and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include preparing portioning and serving food in accordance with established guidelines and standards; maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen serving and dining areas; and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. This position also involves setting a positive tone in the cafeteria by providing courteous and respectful service to students staff and visitors. School Nutrition Workers contribute to creating a supportive school community where all students are encouraged to thrive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Prepare and serve meals according to school guidelines and recipes
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the cafeteria kitchen and serving areas
- Assist with receiving and storing food supplies and equipment
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service to students and staff
- Assist in maintaining inventory and restocking supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating serving sizes
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for long periods of time
WORKING CONDITIONS:
On your feet most of the day
Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs
Working around hot ovens freezers and kitchen equipment
Fast-paced environment with lots of movement
Some exposure to noise cleaning supplies and food odors
Teamwork and daily contact with students and staff
