The Peggy Chung Thrash Memorial Program is a trauma-based partner program of Wissahickon Charter Schools Fernhill Campus. The program supports 10 K-3rd grade students (7 from the Fernhill Campus 3 from the Awbury Campus) who have underlying traumatic experiences that lead to disruptive behaviors in school. Referrals end in 3rd grade but students can remain in the program until the end of their 5th grade year. The program is designed to help the students address and cope with underlying traumatic experiences by supporting the student in building skills to calm down when triggered and to increase communication social and problem solving skills in order to maximize their student success.
Students will work with a trauma-informed psychotherapist weekly in school for the duration of the school year and will attend a day-long equestrian therapy experience at a horse farm in Malvern PA under the supervision of equestrian therapists.
The psychotherapist is an independent contractor and not an employee of Wissahickon Charter School.
