THE POSITION


Are you ready to take your cybersecurity career to the next level The Cybersecurity Analyst II role within theInformation Technology Services (ITS)Department offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with certifications academic training or hands-on experience in cybersecurity or for seasoned IT professionals with a strong background in supporting security initiatives.

In this role youll join a skilled and collaborative team of Information Technology experts committed to protecting the countys digital infrastructure. Youll play a vital part in working alongside the Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to detect and investigate security incidents analyze threats and provide actionable recommendations to minimize risk while also taking ownership of two critical platforms.

  • The Countywide Security Training and Assessment Platform ensuring our workforce stays informed and resilient.
  • The Cloud Third Party Risk Assessment Platforms where youll serve as the go-to expert for managing vendor risk and compliance.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded individual with a solid foundation in cybersecurity principles and a genuine passion for protecting digital environments. They bring a blend of technical expertise analytical thinking and personal drive that enables them to thrive in the fast-paced ever-evolving world of cybersecurity. Our ideal candidate will have experience with any security framework however hands-on work with the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Controls is a plus. This role is ideal for someone who is not only technically capable but also deeply invested in growing their career in cybersecurity while contributing to a mission-driven team.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

The primary role of this position is documenting communicating and educating the Countys workforce on security best practices. On any given day the Cybersecurity Analyst II will perform the following duties:

  • Support Senior Cybersecurity Analyst(s) with security incident investigations to identify root cause and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Work with ITS team members and business partners to improve the Countys security posture.
  • Maintain the Countys Security Awareness Assessment and Training platform.
  • Coordinate activities like working with the vendor to set up phishing or training campaigns.
  • Develop County-wide communication regarding campaign activities.
  • Respond to the County workforce regarding campaign-related questions.
  • Generate phishing assessment and training assessment reports for ITS Management and other County stakeholders.
  • Maintain the Countys Third-Party Risk Assessment solution and ownership of the Countys Cloud Service Review process.
  • Partner with ITS stakeholders and the Risk Assessment vendor to tune the solution platform to comply with the Countys requirements.
  • Generate Risk Assessment reports for ITS Management and other County stakeholders.
  • Support the County workforce members in submitting Cloud Service Review requests and supporting ITS stakeholders in completing cloud service review activities.
  • Collaborate with ITS Management and subject matter experts draft policies processes procedures and knowledge-based articles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any of the following certifications may substitute for one (1) year of required education. Two or more certifications may substitute for up to two (2) years of the education requirement
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
  • MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator)
  • Junos (Juniper) network certifications
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator)
  • NEC enterprise voice solutions certifications
  • VOiP-related system engineering certifications for other major manufacturers
  • AVST Voice mail system certifications
  • Certified Computer Information Security Professional
  • Checkpoint
  • EMC storage solutions
  • Other certifications from major enterprise network solutions providers

ADDITIONAL LICENSES CERTIFICATES PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of a drivers license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • Some incumbents may be required to participate in an extensive background check.
