Job Summary

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. QUALIFICATIONS:

The knowledge skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Police Science Public Administration or Business Administration/Management

  • Four years of criminal investigative or law-enforcement experience including conducting felony and misdemeanor investigations.

  • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.

  • Completion of a State Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) certified Law Enforcement Basic Academy or equivalency.

  • Must meet the following statutory requirements established underandMCA:

  • Sound and active physical and mental condition.

  • Good moral character.

  • Residency in Montana.

  • Citizenship in the United States.

  • Valid Montana drivers license.

  • Pass preservice testing screening and training.

  • At least 20 years of age at the date of the preservice test.

Leadership and/or Management experience is preferred.

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Investigations Manager is responsible for leading supervising and managing the Investigations office. Responsibilities include case assignment distribution and supervision. The position works closely with Legal Services Human Resources and PREA compliance staff to coordinate and appropriately handle department cases and issues. This position is the liaison to the DOJ Division of Criminal Investigation in regards to the Memorandum of Understanding which provides Investigators with Agent peace officer authority. The Investigations Manager reports to the Director regarding the status of all investigations.
