In addition to demonstrated overall chassis systems and chassis design and release experience and problem-solving skills applicants must possess a passion for performance and strong interest in technology. Applicants will be required to interface with teams that include Ford Racing Vehicle Engineering Core Ford Chassis and Body Structure Engineering and several Ford Production Facilities and Chassis Tier 1-3 Suppliers offering numerous opportunities to expand technical knowledge in a wide area of automotive technologies systems and components.

In this position...

Workload will consist of leading a global chassis engineering team who is responsible for Ford Racing chassis systems and design & release for all Ford Racing Vehicles. The scope of the timeframe on these systems and components is from initial chassis layout technology selection supplier selection engineering program milestone delivery production plans execution of launch and continued support for quality and cost efficiency through the life of the program applications.

What youll do...

Position Responsibilities:

• Design and release responsibility for Ford Racing unique active and passive suspension systems: Arms /bushings /joints knuckles springs active shocks passive shocks jounce bumpers steering gears stabilizer bars / links track tires off-road tires and wheels.
• Design and release responsibility for Ford Racing unique chassis structure: Frames subframes body & subframe mounts jacks spare tire winch and skid plates .
• Design and release responsibility and brake development for Ford Racing unique vehicle brake development ( analytical rig and vehicle testing for system sizing pedal feel and legal requirements )Design & Release for Track Vehicles Brake Systems: Caliper rotor pads dust shield and brake hoses. Design & Release for Off-Road Vehicle Brake Systems: Rotors pads dust shields and brake hoses & lines.
• Program Management Team (PMT) responsibility to coordinate core chassis parts used on Ford Racing products and Ford Racing led design to support program engineering and financial milestone through PPAP process to launch.
• Lead the chassis system and component target cascade for road loads joint sizing dimensional capability to support alignment & ride heights weight and cost.
• Lead the Ford Racing Chassis Engineering delivery of engineering program gateways with high level of engineering excellence for design failure mode analysis analytical analysis of designs for capability and resolution of issues with problem solving methods for sound root cause analysis.
• Support Ford Racing Pre-Program Vehicle Architecture Chassis System layout for kinematics by providing feedback related to suspension feasibility for loads ( bushing / joint / section size) and component and assembly feasibility.
• Lead transfer of technology and methods in chassis systems from the Ford Racing Production Vehicle to Competition Vehicle and Ford Racing Competition Vehicles to Production Vehicles.
• Deliver technical project presentations to senior management including results and accomplishments conclusions and recommendations and lessons learned.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum requirements

• BS degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in Underbody Chassis Systems Design
• Demonstrated experience with leading Chassis Engineering teams on multiple concurrent programs.

Desired requirements:

• Engineering MS degree or higher
• Experience in active suspensions and/or off-road chassis systems design.
• Deep knowledge of suspension and/or frame and/or brake systems design & release.
• Working understanding of Functional requirements failure mode effects causes severity and detection methods (DFMEAs)
• Ability to develop clear working level documents and management presentations as well as clear/concise communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several unique tasks simultaneously.
• Ability and willingness to travel to both Ford and supplier domestic and foreign locations.
