This is a full-time position in a senior executive management assistant role. As such this level requires an annual employment contract that will be renewed based on performance objectives being met. Due to the renewal of contract requirements this position is classified/labeled as limited term however is considered a full-time position with benefits.


Join our team as a senior executive management assistant to the administrator of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Passenger Transportation (OPT). Our passion in OPT is to ensure Michigan citizens have mobility options that improve their quality of life. We administer funding and technical support to public transit agencies across the state and strive to maintain MDOTs reputation as an innovative forward-thinking agency. This position will act in a liaison capacity with office administrative and professional staff; state local and federal governmental officials; Governors Office staff; the public; media; transit agency staff; and employees at all levels of the department. The selected candidate will provide administrative and executive support requiring a high degree of confidentiality diplomacy and organizational skills and will assist in researching and preparing presentations and organizing staff activities.


The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Senior Executive Management Assistant 11 position.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience
Six years of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence reports charts etc. or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work including three years equivalent to an advanced 8-level administrative support worker Secretary E8 or Legal Secretary E8; two years equivalent to a Secretary 9 Legal Secretary 9 or Senior Executive Management Assistant 9; or one year equivalent to the Division Head Legal Secretary 10 or Executive Secretary E10.

Alternate Education and Experience

Possession of an associates degree in applied arts and sciences in an executive secretarial science curriculum may be substituted for one year as a Secretary 9.

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Create and attach an example of a small spreadsheet that you would use to track expenses for attending an out of state conference.
  • Create and attach a 3-4 slide PowerPoint presentation that describes the steps you would take to help prepare for an out of state conference.
