Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Experienced and detail-oriented Director of Legal Services to lead and manage all contract-related legal activities within our organization. This role is responsible for drafting reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts as well as identifying and managing external legal counsel when specialized legal expertise is required. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of contract law excellent communication skills and the ability to support diverse departments with legal guidance and risk management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Draft review and negotiate contracts and agreements across various departments including vendor agreements service contracts NDAs partnership agreements and more.
Ensure all contracts comply with relevant laws regulations and company policies.
Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align contract terms accordingly.
Provide clear practical legal advice to senior management and other teams on contractual and legal matters.
Identify and engage external legal counsel when specialized expertise is required; manage relationships billing and performance of outside legal services.
Develop and maintain standardized contract templates and contracting procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments that may affect the organization and adjust policies and contracts accordingly.
Lead or support internal training initiatives to educate staff on legal and compliance topics relevant to their roles.
Maintain organized records of contracts legal opinions and external legal resources.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All other appropriate duties as they relate to the overall management of the department.

Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications Required

Active license to practice law in ND and in good standing with the relevant bar association.

Educational Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Experience Requirements

Experience managing outside legal counsel and legal budgets.

Special Skills or Training Requirements

Strong understanding of corporate commercial and contract law.
Excellent analytical negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
High attention to detail and a strong sense of professional ethics and confidentiality.
