What Were Building

Juicyway is building the rails for Africas participation in the global economy. Our core product is a cross-border payments and FX platform that helps businesses:

• Collect funds in local currencies or FX through multi-currency accounts.
• Convert seamlessly between fiat stablecoins and crypto with deep liquidity.
• Pay out globally with speed and transparency whether to vendors partners or employees.
• Trade FX at preferred rates through our open order book.

For engineers this means solving hard technical problems:

• Designing APIs that can handle real transaction volumes with reliability and security.
• Building systems that support real-time currency conversions and settlements.
• Scaling services across multiple markets and currencies with resilience to handle volatility.
• Creating infrastructure that balances compliance and performance in one of the fastest-moving industries in the world.

About the Role

As a Backend Engineer youll be a core part of the team building the infrastructure that powers Juicyways payments engine.

Youll own projects from design to production turning fast-moving requirements into clean secure and scalable code. Youll collaborate closely with your team perform QA on your own work write automated tests and participate in code reviews to keep our standards high.

This isnt just about writing code its about building the backbone of a payments platform that millions could one day rely on.

Tasks

• Own projects from design through development to production.
• Translate fast-moving product requirements into clear engineering tasks.
• Write clean readable performant secure and well-documented code.
• Debug issues across the application and proactively identify root causes.
• Use data logging and metrics to spot and fix performance issues.
• Perform QA on your own work write automated tests and optimize your code.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain standards while iterating quickly.
• Collaborate with high-performing cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• 2 years of professional engineering experience.
• Experience in functional object-oriented or imperative programming languages (Elixir Go Ruby Rust are strong signals).
• Experience building medium to large-scale web applications in fast-paced environments.
• Strong relational database and SQL skills (we use PostgreSQL).
• Proven ability to build reliable scalable APIs from scratch including abstractions authentication and integrations.
• Pride in your craft you care deeply about the products powered by your services.
• Smarts humility and strong communication skills equal willingness to teach and learn.
• A builders mindset you dont just fix problems you improve systems and culture.
