Position Summary
MCC instructors are higher education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies to reach a variety of learners. They assess student learning to ensure student success staying abreast of current and emerging trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts helping the College to reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Demonstrate content expertise and currency within their academic field
Develop and maintain an increasingly diverse and effective pedagogical skill set that reflects our philosophy as established in our mission: Our focus is learning. Student success is our goal
Possess both the willingness and the ability to share expertise with students colleagues and the broader college community in a manner that is engaging and effective
Engage in continued professional growth scholarly engagement and/or creative development

Engage in professional behavior and participate actively in teamwork while respecting the diversity of values opinions and backgrounds both inside and outside the classroom environment
Instructor of Respiratory Care Clinical Education Coordinator expectations:
Management of the Respiratory Care programs clinical activities
Working with the program coordinator ensuring the student clinical exposures are coordinated with their didactic and laboratory education.
Maintain program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
Ensure direct physician interaction and involvement in student education within the clinical setting
Assess initial and ongoing clinical evaluation skills of clinical faculty utilizing interrater reliability methodology
Asses initial and ongoing clinical site evaluations utilized for clinical education.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education ORAssociates degree with enrollment in a Bachelors program with anticipation to graduate within 24 months from hire date
Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Current state license (If not an Illinois license the ability to obtain an IL license within the first three months of employment)
Minimum of four years experience as a RRT of which at least two years include clinical respiratory care
Minimum of two years experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoArc accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs
