About the Role:
The Building Services Assistant reports to the Branch Manager and is responsible for completing daily weekly monthly quarterly and annual maintenance tasks for the facility and grounds. You will play a vital role in creating a clean safe and functional environment for employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
As a Building Services Assistant your responsibilities will include:
- Perform routine facility cleaning tasks including floors walls restrooms breakroom windows and waste bins.
- Pick up litter and maintain tidiness around the facility (inside and outside) including production areas loading docks drains lawns and offices.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing lightbulbs patching walls painting and basic mechanical tasks.
- Operate equipment like power washers to clean outdoor areas and equipment.
- Handle chemicals and tools safely ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Secure building entrances by locking/unlocking doors as scheduled.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment when needed.
- Assist with light assembly tasks such as setting up office or breakroom equipment.
- Support the team by disassembling reel cores breaking down corrugate and disposing of waste in recycling bins or dumpsters.
- Identify and report hazardous materials or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Follow environmental regulations for chemical disposal and ensure proper use of cleaning tools.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the company or to meet regulatory requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to use cleaning equipment (floor scrubber mop broom vacuum cleaner).
- Willingness to learn and follow standard safety practices for handling chemicals and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. safely bend and stand for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical and repair skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in facility maintenance or cleaning roles.
- Familiarity with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
