Current Vacancies:What Youll Do
  • Create edit print store retrieve and delete documents using a computer word processing and other software in draft or final form from rough or corrected copy where formal and arrangements are not clearly indicated.
  • Prepare review and process forms records reports applications and other documents for accuracy completion and conformance to established requirements.
  • Search through a variety of paper and electronic files and records to extract compile and summarize information and prepare periodic and special reports.
  • Compose routine correspondence and letters of acknowledgement.
  • Provide general information and resolve complaints in person or over the telephone involving explanation of rules regulations policies and procedures and knowledge of the agencys purpose and functions.
  • Assist the public in filing out standard and supplementary forms.
  • Set up and maintain a variety of files and records and revising filing system as necessary.
  • Sort arrange and file a variety of documents and materials.
  • Answer the telephone and take and/or relay messages to the proper person or office.
  • May incidentally supervise the work of others.
  • Perform other related duties of the position.

Special Work Requirements
  • Work schedule is typically from 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with hours varying depending on the vacancy.
  • May also be required to work overtime nights weekends and holidays as needed to address operational needs.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One (1) year of clerical experience.

Such experience must have demonstrated:

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of filing methods and systems
  • Knowledge of correct English grammar spelling and word usage
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of common office machines and equipment
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations
  • Ability to compare words and numbers accurately
  • Ability to keep records summarize and analyze materials and prepare reports
  • Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment
  • Ability to understand and interpret laws ordinances rules regulations and policies pertinent to the department
  • Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to deal with others in an effective and tactful manner

Substitution: Business school or college-level credits from an accredited college or university will substitute for experience on a month-for-month basis for the required clerical experience.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
