Job Summary

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Nursing.
  • Previous experience in nursing education and recent expertise in the content area of teaching responsibility.
  • Current unrestricted Florida RN license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years online teaching experience.
Rank:Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Salary:Nine-month position. Competitive salary depending on experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Tenure and Promotion:Tenure and promotion are awarded based on a review by a college-wide committee of the candidates contributions to service pedagogy and scholarship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaches assigned courses within the BSN program and may be assigned courses in the Associate Degree in Nursing program as needed.
  • Develop and implement course syllabi assignments and assessments using the D2L Learning Management System.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive online lectures discussions and activities to facilitate student learning.
  • Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
  • Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials including learning objectives texts and supplementary teaching materials.
  • Applies classroom management strategies in face-to-face hybrid and/or online format.
  • Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
  • Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.
  • Provide academic and career advising to BSN students. Mentor and guide students in their academic and professional development. Mentor and supervise student service learning projects.
  • Design and implement assessment methods to evaluate students progress and competence. Assess student performance provide timely feedback and assign grades. Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing program by assessing student outcomes program goals and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the quality and consistency of the BSN program. Work with other health care professionals and organizations to enhance the educational experience for students.
  • Remain current with nursing education trends and best practices and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver curriculum lesson plans and course materials for BSN courses. This involves designing courses selecting textbooks or using Open Educational Resources and ensuring the curriculum aligns with accreditation standards and evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in departmental and college committees and activities. Engage in community outreach service learning or clinical partnerships. Contribute to the development of the BSN program and its continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards relevant to nursing education. Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation required for accreditation.

Professional Development:

  • Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
  • Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
  • Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications licensure or other professional credentials.

College Responsibilities and Service:
  • Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
  • Records student attendance as necessary.
  • Attends department division and college-wide academic functions.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate clearly effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
  • Commitment to the community college mission innovative and effective teaching sustained and significant professional development and service to the College.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
