About Harris County Flood Control District:

The Harris County Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County the third most populated county in the United States with a population in excess of 4.7 million including the City of Houston the nations fourth largest city. The District has jurisdiction over the countys primary stormwater facilities consisting of approximately 1500 channels totaling nearly 2500 miles in length as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins totaling more than 10000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks.


What you will do atHarris County Flood Control District:

Harris County Flood Control District (District) is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Accounts Payable Coordinator.


Reporting to the Financial Services Department Manager the Accounts Payable Coordinator will be responsible for receiving processing validating and auditing invoices against purchase orders for products and services purchased by the District and also perform a variety of other financial administrative duties.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Receive and enter all financial information for expenditures using the Harris County financial systems.
  • Verify invoice pricing balances and expiration dates. Note discrepancies and contact appropriate personnel or vendor for adjustments.
  • Distribute invoices to departmental personnel for approval.
  • Receive invoices from the Auditors office and prepare financial account coding for payment.
  • Monitor purchase orders for cancellations to contracts that have been completed or expired.
  • Respond to internal and external requests such as reimbursements invoices etc.
  • Compose type edit department letters memos reports and other documents.
  • Prepare financial journal entries as needed.
  • Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook Word PowerPoint Excel TEAMS Access etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments.
  • Ability to be self- motivated. A self-starter.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
