The Alaska Court System is looking for a versatile and dynamic individual to join the Archives and Central Services Division as a Central Services Clerk 1. This position offers a variety of essential duties that directly support the ACS and contribute to its smooth operations.

As a Central Services Clerk 1 you will be responsible for receiving storing and issuing supplies and equipment from warehouse storage locations. Youll also handle shipping and deliveries ensuring timely distribution of materials to the Anchorage addition youll be called upon to assist with minor repairs move furniture and equipment and operate forklifts court vehicles and other material handling equipment as needed.

This role also involves managing the ACS mail system. You will operate postage metering machines deliver and retrieve inter-office mail and process all incoming and outgoing mail across the Anchorage campus. Youll be responsible for ensuring documents are delivered to law firms and other ACS locations as part of your courier duties.

Youll also gain hands-on experience working in the print shop learning the ins and outs of the various equipment and software used to meet ACS printing needs. Under supervision youll support the printing process to ensure materials are produced efficiently and on time.

This position calls for someone who is flexible proactive and ready to take on new challenges as they arise. Additional tasks may be assigned by the supervisor or Central Services Senior Clerk. This is a flexibly-staffed position. Progression to the higher level may occur when the incumbent: 1) successfully completes a specified training plan; 2) meets all other specified terms of the flexible staffing agreement; 3) meets the minimum qualifications of the higher level; 4) is certified by the supervisor as capable to perform at the higher level; and 5) is approved by the Human Resources Department. When certified the position may be reclassified to Central Services Clerk 2 salary range 10.




The Work Hours

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.



Applicants who progress to the final phase of interviews will be asked to perform basic lifting and equipment operation:
  • Move 10 cases of copy paper separated ten feet apart.
  • Load and move 4 boxes using a two-wheeler for a distance of 20 feet.
  • Using a pallet jack move a pallet of paper between two specified locations and return the pallet jack back to its original location.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND six months of mail handling office clerical or warehouse work experience AND possession of a valid Alaska Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.

Special Note:
Possession of a valid Alaska Drivers License with a good driving record is required. Driving record will be checked through the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN).
