TheDepartment of Parks& Recreationis looking for a Park Grounds Maintenance Superintendent to manage all of the grounds maintenance and related activities in District III (Leeward Oahu).
Key ResponsibilitiesPark Maintenance & Operations Management Plans schedules coordinates and supervises maintenance repair and beautification activities across park facilities including buildings play areas landscaped grounds and concessions.
Inspection & Quality Assurance Conducts regular site inspections to assess completed work identify repair or improvement needs and ensure facilities are clean safe and properly maintained.
Personnel Leadership & Supervision Manages subordinate supervisors and staff through hiring training performance evaluation discipline workload distribution and ensuring employee safety and compliance.
Administrative & Budget Oversight Prepares reports conducts staffing/equipment studies and assists in developing budgets and capital improvement plans to support district maintenance operations.
Community & Interdepartmental Relations Coordinates with other departments and external planners/engineers on projects engages with community groups addresses public concerns and represents the district in maintenance-related matters.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Seven years of experience in the care maintenance and beautification of landscaped areas four of which shall have involved supervisory responsibility.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the operation and maintenance of grounds maintenance equipment and tools; and the ability to plan direct and coordinate work of a large number of employees; explain and interpret laws policies procedures rules and regulations; prepare estimates of cost and requisitions for materials tools and equipment needed for grounds maintenance work; prepare reports; and deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
Substitution:A Bachelors degree in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences Botany Horticulture or Agriculture from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university may substitute for three years of experience in the care maintenance and beautification of landscaped areas. There isnosubstitution for the supervisory experience.
The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.
Verification Requirement: In order to be given credit for your education clearly list your education credentials on your application. As part of the hiring process you may be asked to furnish documentation to verify your education to satisfy this education qualification requirement.
