HATC Summer 2026 Rechargeable Battery Materials Internship Program
Huntsman is hiring for our 2026 Summer Internship Program focused on the development of advanced materials for rechargeable batteries located at our HATC (The Woodlands Texas) site.
Our intern program is tailored to individuals who are currently enrolled full-time students at an accredited four-year college or university. The internship runs from March - December - dependent on the interns availability. The goal of the Huntsman Intern Program is to provide a structured program that will equip interns with the skills and experience to help prepare for a successful career. The internship program will allow interns to apply knowledge learned in school to a real-world manufacturing or R&D setting and gain insight into the operation of a multinational chemical company.
As an HR Intern you will:
- Support the R&D team in developing and testing innovative chemistries for lithium-ion and next-generation battery technologies.
- Assist in laboratory experiments focused on polymer additives electrolyte formulations and electrode coatings.
- Conduct material characterization using techniques such as DSC TGA FTIR SEM and rheology.
- Analyze performance data and contribute to technical reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development sustainability and regulatory affairs.
- Participate in literature reviews and competitive benchmarking of battery materials.
- Help maintain lab equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Contribute to the scale-up and application testing of promising formulations.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions on technical strategy and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Full-time college student at the Junior Senior or Master level by the end of Spring 2026.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Materials Science or a related field.
- Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university seeking a bachelors or masters degree.
- Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Must be eligible to legally work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and principles of polymer or materials chemistry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to research and analyze technical information and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel PowerPoint and Word.
