Job Duties:

This position is a full-time 12-month core faculty member in the DPT program hired at the rank of assistant or associate professor based on experience. The position requires an active and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in Wisconsin (or ability to become licensed within 6 months of hire). A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice is required.

Instructional workload will include courses in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise with specific coursework assigned depending on faculty expertise. Faculty will be expected to supervise students in a pro bono physical therapy practice as part of instructional workload. The UWSP DPT program has a mission to meet the needs of rural communities applicants with rural practice experience desired.

Additional position requirements include service to program school college and university via committees professional engagement and contributions to scholarship.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Compensation:

$75000 minimum annually based on qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Wisconsin. A successful applicant will be required to obtain a valid Wisconsin Physical Therapy License within six (6) months of contract start. Individuals with a compact license must secure licensure in the state.
  • Earned terminal academic degree (PhD DSc EdD).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent practice as a physical therapist.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to excellence in competency-based physical therapy education and working collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Experience teaching in a program with competency-based education as a component of that program.
  • Active record of service to the profession of physical therapy typically demonstrated through active engagement with professional organizations at the local regional or national level.
  • Active record of scholarship.
  • Understanding the accreditation process for APBTRFE residency education in Orthopedics and/or the developing Primary Care specialization in rural practice. This is typically demonstrated by direct experience with residency education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching or lab assisting experience in an entry-level DPT program
  • ABPTS clinical specialist certification preferably in orthopedics (OCS)
  • Active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Scholarship that will help anchor a research agenda that focuses on: (1) CBE instructional practices and outcomes; (2) health care delivery in primary care with focus on rural communities
