Job Summary

Location: Rockville MD (Onsite from Day 1)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Cloud Infrastructure SME with deep expertise in Terraform and Ansible to lead the automation provisioning and operational management of our cloud infrastructure. This role is critical to designing and maintaining scalable secure and highly available environments on AWS with additional responsibilities involving Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies. The ideal candidate will be a proactive engineer with a passion for infrastructure as code automation and operational excellence.
Top Required Skills (Must-Have):
Expert-level proficiency in Terraform for defining and deploying infrastructure as code in large-scale environments.
Advanced experience with Ansible for automation of configuration management patching and provisioning tasks.
Proven experience integrating Terraform and Ansible into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure lifecycle workflows.
Strong practical knowledge of AWS services EC2 VPC IAM RDS Lambda S3 Cloud Watch etc.
Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably AWS EKS) for managing containerized workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
Design implement and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform ensuring reusable scalable and version-controlled deployments.
Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks/roles for system configuration app deployment and automated operations.
Lead infrastructure provisioning patch management and automation across development staging and production environments.
Oversee Kubernetes cluster operations including monitoring scaling and maintenance.
Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues across compute networking and storage layers.
Optimize cloud performance reliability and cost through proactive monitoring and automation.
Collaborate with developers DevOps and security teams to embed infrastructure best practices.
Additional Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with tools like Jenkins GitHub Actions or AWS Code Pipeline.
Familiarity with AWS Cloud Formation (secondary to Terraform).
Experience in cloud monitoring using Cloud Watch ELK or similar.
Scripting knowledge in Python Shell or Go is a plus.
Leadership
& Communication:
Experience leading infrastructure initiatives and mentoring junior team members.
Effective communicator who can engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect DevOps Engineer or SysOps Administrator.
Background in regulated industries (healthcare finance etc.) is advantageous.
Work Requirements:
Must be onsite in Rockville MD from Day 1-no remote option.
This is a contract position with high visibility in enterprise cloud initiatives.
