E-Logic is seeking a Technical Writer to support the Office of Inspector General (OIG) within the U.S. Department of Education. The Technical Writer will play a critical role in developing reviewing maintaining and updating system security documentation for moderate-impact level information technology (IT) systems. This position requires strong expertise in federal security frameworks compliance standards and technical communication practices.
Responsibilities:
- Independently develop research review and update all system security and IT documentation in alignment with federal standards.
- Evaluate OIG IT systems and ensure documentation complies with requirements set by OMB NIST DHS FedRAMP and FISMA reporting mandates.
- Create update and maintain Information Assurance artifacts including within the Governance Risk and Compliance Tool (GRCT).
- Maintain and update all cybersecurity documentation to reflect current policies procedures and security controls.
- Actively participate in IT and Cybersecurity-related meetings capturing and distributing meeting minutes to OIG staff within established timeframes.
- Attend quarterly Risk Management Workshops hosted by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO); identify track and maintain action items and provide status updates.
- Collaborate with OIG staff and team members to review and refine system documentation.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of federal IT policies security frameworks and industry standards to ensure accuracy and compliance of documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems English Technical Writing or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Technical Writer preferably in a federal or IT security-focused environment.
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear concise and compliant documentation.
- Proven experience working with cybersecurity and compliance documentation within government or regulated industries.
