The Role
The successful candidate will be based at our project site in Charlottetown PEI and will lead the safety function for the project. The Safety Manager will report to the Director of Safety.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Provide expertise knowledge and guidance in areas of legislation OH&S regulations and client HSE policies while monitoring corporate HSE performance
- Maintain and audit programs to ensure COR standards are met
- Perform formal and informal inspections and audits
- Facilitate and encourage a positive corporate safety culture for employees and subcontractors
- Conduct HSE orientations and training for new employees
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations
- Identify and implement corporate safety policies programs and priorities
- Incorporate strategies training and other prevention tools as appropriate
- Compile prepare and update statistical reports including pre-qualification information for construction projects
- Provide necessary support to managers supervisors and health and safety coordinators to achieve their objectives
- Develop and implement prevention programs for construction sites including oversight of prevention agents and subcontractor safety plans and activities
- Ensure compliance with federal provincial and customer safety standards
- Participate in incident investigations
Qualifications
- Over 5 years experience in a safety role in commercial construction or a similar industry
- College diploma in environmental health and safety or sufficient studies in health safety and prevention
- Member of a recognized professional association in occupational health and safety or working toward such designation as CRSP and/or CHSC would be considered an asset
- Must hold a valid drivers license
