Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) preferred.

The Controller-UAB Callahan Eye oversees financial operations ensuring the accurate preparation and analysis of financial reports maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Works collaboratively with various departments to manage and optimize financial performance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
the preparation and accuracy of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
that all financial reports are prepared in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and healthcare regulations.
variance analysis and recommends corrective actions to senior leadership.
the development and preparation of the annual budget.
accurate forecasting and financial projections to senior leadership.
budget adherence and work with department heads to manage costs effectively.
the day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger.
the financial staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
proper accounting of revenue and expenses including reimbursement from insurance providers and government programs.
and maintains strong internal controls to safeguard the organizations assets.
compliance with healthcare-specific regulations including Medicare Medicaid and other healthcare reimbursement standards.
and oversees internal and external audits ensuring timely completion and compliance with financial regulations.
financial analysis to identify trends variances and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
