Job Description:
The Controller-UAB Callahan Eye oversees financial operations ensuring the accurate preparation and analysis of financial reports maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Works collaboratively with various departments to manage and optimize financial performance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Oversees the preparation and accuracy of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.

2. Ensures that all financial reports are prepared in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and healthcare regulations.

3. Prepares variance analysis and recommends corrective actions to senior leadership.

4. Leads the development and preparation of the annual budget.

5. Provides accurate forecasting and financial projections to senior leadership.

6. Monitors budget adherence and work with department heads to manage costs effectively.

7. Manages the day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger.

8. Supervises the financial staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

9. Ensures proper accounting of revenue and expenses including reimbursement from insurance providers and government programs.

10. Establishes and maintains strong internal controls to safeguard the organizations assets.

11. Ensures compliance with healthcare-specific regulations including Medicare Medicaid and other healthcare reimbursement standards.

12. Coordinates and oversees internal and external audits ensuring timely completion and compliance with financial regulations.

13. Conducts financial analysis to identify trends variances and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

14. Presents financial findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

15. Evaluates capital expenditures and return on investment for major projects.

16. Manages cash flow to ensure that the organization has sufficient funds for operations and capital projects.

17. Works with the CFO to optimize cash management and investment strategies.

18. Foster a collaborative high-performance culture within the finance department.

19. Collaborates with leadership to support strategic financial planning and growth initiatives.

20. Provides financial insight and guidance on new healthcare services partnerships and acquisitions.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) preferred.
