Theatre Assistant
Hong Kong West Cluster / Queen Mary Hospital / Operation Theatre Service
HK$24875 HK$29305 per month
Up to 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Assist in operating procedures;
Assist in patient care in operating theatre and recovery room;
Prepare issue and handle surgical instruments equipment furniture and related items for operating procedures;
Prepare surgical consumables for operating procedures and restock after use;
Assist in patient positioning;
Transfer and transport of patients as well as instruments equipment and consumables;
Reprocess (Cleansing Disinfection and Sterilization) surgical instruments and equipment after use;
Control inventory of surgical instruments consumables and equipment;
Assist to train and coach less experienced/ junior staff;
Perform clerical tasks if required;
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
(i) F.5 with passes in HKCEE Chinese Language & English Language; or
Completed Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Theatre Assistant) Training Program organized by Hospital Authority Head Office (HAHO) (see Remarks);
Possess at least 3 years relevant work experience (see Remarks);
Obtained steam sterilizer license (if required by the job) (see Remarks);
Able to speak fluent Cantonese write and read Chinese and English and speak English.
Experience in related healthcare setting; or
Holder of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma in Health Care; or
Basic IT (Word / Excel / PowerPoint etc) knowledge and skills; or
Interest in working in operating theatre.

Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (2) (3) (4) if find suitable will be employed to undergo at least 3 years on the job training. The staff will be initially appointed as Patient Care Assistant II at a monthly salary of $19764 to undergo at least 6 months structured departmental training or Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Theatre Assistant) Training Program organized by HAHO and obtain the steam sterilizer license (if required by the job). After completing the structured departmental training or Corporate Training passing the assessment and obtaining the steam sterilizer license (if required by the job) their monthly salary will be adjusted to $21739. The staff will then continue to undergo an addition of at least 2 years on-the-job training including the Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Theatre Assistant) Training Program organized by HAHO. After completing a total training period of at least 3 years and passing the end of training assessment on skills and performance the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant I at a monthly salary of $24875. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.
Staff with F.5/ S.5 standard and 3 years care-related experience may also be considered.
