Your Team
The Artificial Intelligence Competence Center drives advanced research and deployment of edge AI technologies enabling NXPs products with state-of-the-art machine learning capabilities. We are looking for a student passionate about optimizing Compound AI Systems (i.e. systems that address AI tasks by synthesizing multiple components that interact with each other such as one or more AI Agents and external tools and databases). You will be part of a team conducting innovation on Agentic Edge AI and your work will involve designing implementing and assessing a methodology for optimizing Compound AI Systems.
Your Responsibilities
Identify and assess existing compound AI systems for real-world applications
Identify limitations of existing compound AI systems to propose implement and assess novel highly impactful extensions
Document findings and contribute to our internal knowledge bases and tooling
Collaborate with team members to identify promising directions for future development

Your Profile
Currently pursuing a masters degree in Computer Science Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning or a related field
Good understanding of fundamental AI/ML concepts with a particular great understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs)
Familiarity with prompt optimization (e.g. DSPy TextGrad) model selection and existing sampling techniques for LLMs
Experience with Python PyTorch and best practices in Software Development
Great level of English is required (attendance to meetings / presentations with international team reading and writing of documentation)
Experience with Edge AI deployment (e.g. TFLite ONNX) is a plus
Duration
This is a full-time internship (40 hours per week) with a duration of 6 months or longer. The assignment could also be suitable as a thesis/graduation project. Please note that in order to be considered for an internship/working student assignment you need to be registered as a student during the entire period.
