Position Overview:
The Tobacco and Asthma Prevention Program Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and implementation of both the Tobacco/Vaping Prevention & Cessation and Asthma Control programs within Harris County. This role includes delivering evidence-based education to residents coordinating cessation and self-management cohorts and managing key performance indicators. The supervisor is also responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with community stakeholders and partners to support effective program delivery and long-term impact.


Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Tobacco/Vaping Prevention & Cessation and Asthma Control and programs to ensure effective service delivery and program alignment.
  • Supervise and support assigned staff through regular feedback mentorship and performance evaluations to maintain high-quality program execution.
  • Ensure program goals deadlines and performance standards are met across both tobacco and asthma initiatives.
  • Provide evidence-based education on tobacco/vaping prevention & cessation and asthma self-management to individuals and groups in Harris County; document program activities and education provided.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners stakeholders and healthcare providers to enhance program reach and impact.
  • Manage monthly quarterly and annual program reports maintaining documentation and programs metrics.
  • Assist in budget preparation and maintain fiscal oversight to ensure responsible use of program funding.
  • Stay current on research trends and best practices related to tobacco/vaping prevention & cessation and asthma control.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in public health or related field.
Experience:
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience in community engagement or direct work under public health.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Licensure/Certification:
  • Valid Texas Drivers License.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and navigating Electronic Medical Record Systems.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Knowledge of current CDC recommendations for immunizations.
  • Ability to organize material prioritize job tasks make reliable judgments and draw conclusions from verbal discussions and written data.
  • Ability to draw conclusions from data such as lab tests to record this information accurately in patients record and to notify the medical providers when deviations occur.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a Full-Time Grant-Funded position.
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Must be willing to flex work hours when required including weekends.
  • Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction.
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in both a professional office and community environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
  • This is a largely active role; some duties may require the ability to life up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
