Job Description
Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Mount C of E Primary School
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with children and eager to begin a rewarding career in education.
You will work under the guidance of teaching staff to support pupils learning and development in the classroom in small groups and on a one-to-one basis. As part of our nurturing environment you will help children grow in confidence independence and self-esteem while promoting the schools Christian ethos of kindness respect and inclusion.
Apprenticeship Overview:
- Salary:7.55 an hourAutomatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19 year olds
- Working Week:Monday to Friday 8:45am till 3:45pm with a 30-minute lunch break
- Hours: 32.5 hours per week
- Duration:18 months

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with individuals or small groups to support learning
- Provide tailored help for children with special educational needs or additional needs
- Encourage independence resilience and positive attitudes to learning
- Assist with personal care when required
- Promote and model Christian values of kindness respect and inclusion
- Prepare and adapt resources under the direction of teaching staff
- Deliver planned learning activities and interventions
- Help create a safe supportive and engaging learning environment
- Observe record and report pupil progress and achievements
- Contribute to assessments and classroom organisation
- Support positive behaviour strategies in line with school policy
- Ensure the safety wellbeing and security of all pupils
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly
- Build strong relationships with pupils staff parents and external agencies
- Work collaboratively as part of the school team
- Attend training staff meetings and development opportunities
- Supervise pupils at transitions break and lunchtimes
- Support school trips visits and enrichment activities
- Assist with displays classroom admin and wider school life
What Were Looking For:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Strong communication skills (oral written and IT)
- A good understanding of child development and additional needs
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting childrens welfare
- Reliability confidentiality and an excellent attendance record
- Previous experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end
The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant SEND Apprenticeship standard qualification.
Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentices needs the frequency of these sessions may vary.
