Job Summary

GAI is seeking a Distribution Assistant Designer Manager for distribution-related work. This position will perform distribution design technical guidance/mentoring/supervising of staff design reviews and implementation of all aspects relating to distribution design services. The successful candidate will manage a team of CAD Operators/Designers as well as work on various distribution design projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to work at the Collegeville PA office 1-3 days a week. Job Duties:

  • Manage design and perform QA/QC checks related to technical activities including but not limited to the following:
  • Manage train and mentor CAD Operators/designers to develop high quality project deliverables.
  • Responsible for the oversite of all CAD Design related discussions as well as coordination with other disciplines CAD leads.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews on drawing packages including 2D drawing sets for adherence to client standards.
  • Document QA/QC reviews maintain record documents and communicate information to the team.
  • Develop and/or revise 2D drawings
  • Perform and manage 2D model creation in accordance with client workflows & standards.
  • Utilize and manage others in the usage of file management software in accordance with client workflows and standards.
  • Develop design specifications including the overall bill of materials.
  • Travel to other offices meet with clients and attend project specific meetings on an as needed basis.
  • Manage tasks on assigned projects in accordance with GAIs high standards of project management.
  • Manage and assist with the development of scope of services and cost estimates for substation projects.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgment to determine optimal solutions.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or DDS.
  • Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes.
  • Must have resource management skills and ability to identify project barriers and mitigate them without schedule impacts.

  • Change leadership: Manager plays an important role enacting top-level changes across operational divisions as supporters of change.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 10 Years of Experience

Education

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School or equivalent experience.

Certification/Licensure

  • Drivers License

Technical Responsibilities

  • Beginning to provide oversight of task managers tasks; Coordination of project tasks; Reviews project documents; Adjust project plan as changes are made.
  • Recruiting and retaining staff.
  • Interpreting the strategy of top-level management and translating it into everyday policies.
  • Developing and implementing day-to-day routines for a team department group or division.
  • Talent development: Develop Staff skills and empowering them as problem-solvers boosts innovation and productivity.
  • Oversee learning coaching and career progression.

Project and Task Management

  • Responsible for task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.

Management Responsibility

  • Hires staff; Manages performance and career paths; Coordinates assignments to CADD staff from project team; Manages 1 to 3 staff.
  • Monitoring employee performance.
  • Making sure that processes and procedures are in compliance with the overall organizations guidelines.
  • Inspiring and encouraging employees to perform their best.
  • Assigning and supervising specific work tasks.
  • Allocating resources within a team department group or division.
  • Reporting issues and performance to top-level management.
  • Well-being fostering: Prioritizing mental health work-life integration and enhances retention.
  • Manager shapes day-to-day workplace experiences.

Communication Skills

  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills; interacts well with other staff; clients Project Managers and various Department Managerial Staff especially with client communications; interact with clients at regular project meetings.
