JOB PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Technician supports the safe and efficient operation of the shelter facility. This role is responsible for general maintenance repairs and inspections to ensure the building grounds and equipment remain in good condition. The Technician helps maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform work as assigned including but not limited to make-readies dry wall repair and painting change light bulbs and a/c filters minor plumbing carpentry and electrical etc.
- Perform basic repairs to plumbing electrical mechanical and structural systems as assigned.
- Perform and document facility walk-throughs and checklist inspections.
- Check for and remove all graffiti. Perform needed repairs within scope of knowledge reporting all others to Shelter Manager.
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems safety equipment and grounds.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs when needed.
- Maintain tools equipment and inventory of maintenance supplies.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of furniture equipment or temporary facilities.
- Support safety and emergency preparedness tasks (e.g. fire extinguishers exits generators).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA building codes and shelter safety standards.
- Assist program staff with furniture moving document/picture hanging donation pick-ups trash removal etc.
- Request of ordering of supplies to Shelter Manager.
- Complete and maintain paperwork:
- Maintenance service requests
- Project checklists work logs and inspection reports
- Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED is required. Vocational/trade certificate a plus.
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years experience in general maintenance facilities or building operations. 1-3 years in a customer service focused environment. Basic knowledge of plumbing electrical HVAC and carpentry. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employers sole discretion.
LICENSES: Drivers License with clear record.
VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
WORK LOCATION: In-person
OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
