MoranAssistant Superintendent of Human ResourcesFunding is available for a team of staff and administrators to serve on Year 2 of the Root Cause Analysis Steering Committee: Addressing Success Gaps for Students with Disabilities. Brockton Public Schools is committed to taking ambitious steps to decrease the success gap(s) of students with disabilities increase the four-year graduation rate of students with disabilities and grow the number of students with disabilities pursuing additional learning SY24-25 the Office of Exceptional Learning developed a steering committee to identify root causes and develop action steps to address success gaps through the collection review and analysis of historical and current data in the following areas: placement and inclusion data academic achievement transitions of students with disabilities (transitions within placements AND transitions from elementary to secondary) and retention data. The steering committee and subcommittees will developed and preliminary action steps for the district to increase success rates of students with SY25-26 the action planning of the steering committee will continue with a specific focus on co-teaching practices and grading practices. The steering committee will be facilitated by the Assistant Director of Special Education for High Schools and the Assistant Director of Special Education for Middle Schools. Positions of the Steering Committee may include up to: High School Level Principal (1)Middle School Level Principal (1)Special Education Coordinators Middle and High School Levels (2)School Based Team Chairperson (1)Instructional Coaches (2)Curriculum Leaders/Coordinators Secondary Level (2)5th Grade General Education Teacher (1)8th Grade General Education Teacher (1)9th Grade General Education Teacher (1)Special Education Substantially Separate Teachers or Coaches (2)High School MSN Teacher (1)Middle School Special Educator (1)Middle School Guidance Counselor (1)High School Guidance Counselor (1)Qualifications to collaborate effectively with others and to meet all established to work in data collection and review/analysis of and experience in developing proposals and facilitating oral and/or written presentationsDuties and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with team members to:Complete a root cause analysis of the success gaps of Brocktons students with disabilities Review of current and historical data which could include but is not limited to: Attendance Grades Progress Monitoring Data MCAS DataDevelopment of proposed recommendations and action plan (by role) to increase passing rates and decrease retention rates students with disabilities and increase inclusion for students with disabilitiesDevelop a written summary to include the root cause analyses and the proposed action planParticipate in cross committee collaboration with the Elementary Inclusion Steering CommitteeMeeting Dates: A mixture of live and virtual committee meetings and independent teamwork; September 2025 June 2026. Exact times to be determined by steering committee. Time Commitment: 2 hours a week minimum. Mixture of in-person or virtual committee meetings/group work and individual work.
