We are looking to appoint an Educator for our Remand Reintegration Programme. This is a rolling programme undertaken inside the Prison(s) and involves a number of reintegration sessions. These sessions focus on participants reintegration needs and are tailored for different cohorts (e.g. women and youth) and are culturally responsive.
The Educator will while delivering the programme also advise participants about the Out of Gate Reintegration Service what support the service offers and whether participants in the programme would like a referral to the service.
Te P Out of Gate Te Hokinga Mai Raki Reintegration Team work intensively with released tangata/participants who have been released from prison after serving a sentence of less than two years or are on remand.
The pillars of reintegration are Accommodation Employment Health Economic Sustainability Whnau Relationships Community Contribution Cultural Connectivity. These are wellbeing measures and areas of focus for the education modules.
Purpose
To improve the skills knowledge confidence and general wellbeing of tangata for preparation upon release.
Requirements
A bachelor degree in psychology mental health teaching social work or related field; transferable skills from other fields considered.
Pro-social approach to actively motivate and encourage others
Experience of working with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Confidently relate to the clientele
Commitment to Tikanga Mori values and cultural sensitivity.
Strong communication ethical boundaries and organisational skills.
Capacity to problem solve and work independently organise own time and resources and work well within a team environment
High attention to detail and intermediate to advanced computer literacy.
Build and maintain stakeholder engagement
Manage and maintain data across multiple spreadsheets
Full NZ driver license.
Desirable
Experience working in Reintegration Services Department of Corrections or Justice Sector.
Strong connections with Iwi Mori and Pasifika communities.
