Job Summary

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in information technology management business management computer science or information systems.

4 years of work experience in one or a combination of the following: software development web development GIS development database administration or related field.

2 years of experience managing any combination of software and/or web developers GIS professionals database administrators or data warehouse/data analytics staff.

Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 8 years related experience and 2 years of supervision.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Requires knowledge of a programming language such as Java Agile Development; or knowledge of the ServiceNow platform or ESRI technology and GIS solutions; or database platforms such as Oracle or SQL Server database environments; or web development tools and solutions.

Proficient in contract vendor and procurement management.

Knowledge of industry best practices and innovative technologies.

The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a Software Developer Section Supervisor. Responsible for supervising development staff that support applications based upon a variety of technologies including Java web applications Service Now applications Jasper reporting tools a cloud-based accounting platform that based and RDBMS based upon Oracle and SQL Server as well as Snowflake data warehouse. This section relies upon Jira for day-to-day operations and ISD has implemented the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). This position reports to the Software & Data Systems Bureau Chief. This position is required to work in the Helena MT office at least 3 days a week.
