Job Description

Are you passionate about making sustainability part of everyday business decisions At ING we believe banking can and should make a positive impact on people and the planet. We are looking for aConsultantto join ourIntegration & Implementation (I&I) teamwithinGroup Sustainability.

In this role you will help integrate INGs three key sustainability priorities: climate nature and human rights; into our businesses and key functions with a primary focus on Wholesale Banking. You will also support the proper integration of sustainability to meet our commitments and regulatory disclosure requirements.

Your work will help bring INGs sustainability strategy to life in day-to-day decision-making and strategic priorities. You will collaborate with a wide range of internal stakeholders including front office risk finance communications IT operations compliance and legal.

The team

You will be part ofGroup Sustainability a global department reporting directly to the CEO. Our team oversees the Sustainability Direction of ING Group. We are committed to set the standard for INGs sustainability performance and raise the bar for our peers the sectors were active in and other stakeholders. The team consists of 36 professionals with diverse backgrounds nationalities and expertise. We are organized into three sub-teams:ExpertiseIntegration & Implementation andStakeholder Engagement. Together we work on embedding sustainability across all business lines and functions collaborating with colleagues worldwide and engaging with external stakeholders to create a ripple effect of positive impact. We value collaboration curiosity and a proactive mindset.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Consultant in the Integration & Implementation team you will:

  • Support the deliverables and workstreams in the Sustainability Integration & Implementation team

  • Flag dependencies impediments for program deliverables and make suggestions on how to improve

  • Understand and connect the dots between various initiatives and workstreams to assess how sustainability can be prioritized where necessary and flag this accordingly

  • Support in the shaping and influencing of (upcoming) standards and regulation (e.g. support in the delivery input for consultations and/or share views on impacts thereof internally)

  • Support and contribute to the publication of external sustainability reports statements and publications

  • Support and contribute to internal and external working groups where ING works together with other organisations to create coalitions for action

You are a strong collaborator who can navigate complexity and bring people together. You combine analytical skills with a hands-on approach and are comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

Furthermore you have:

  • Masters degree (e.g. Environmental/Climate Science Sustainability Finance Strategy Business)

  • >3 years of relevant working experience (preferably with financial institutions large corporate organisation or relevant consultancy)

  • Work experience within one of the key business lines of ING (WB/RB/BB) or similar functions in other organizations; preferably with a strong understanding of the WB business line

  • Expertise on one of the relevant sustainability themes and/or implementation & integration tracks

  • Project management skills ability to deliver within strict deadlines and report on progress

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time juggle competing deadlines and deliver high-quality results

  • Have an in(ex)ternal network to collaborate on execution of the project and attend relevant external events to build and expand external network

  • Develop and expand knowledge on how sustainability topics are relevant for FIs and more specifically INGs sectors/regions

  • Support preparation for in depth answers to internal -and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player who can collaborate well with complex and diverse stakeholders with varying interests

  • A self-starter who can prioritize and take action without too much hand-holding and help the team do the same

  • Willingness to work in the chaos of the unknown and new with the ability to reflect and improve by learning and doing

  • An ability to present complex and technical topics/issues in a simple and clear way to others who do not have that expertise within and outside the team

  • Having a strong internal ING network and understanding of the organization and its movers and shakers is a plus

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
