Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Director of Development for Parents Giving is responsible for the overall management planning administration direction and evaluation of the parents giving program. The Director will design and execute a comprehensive plan of focused engagement and solicitation strategies for parent and family leadership donors and rated prospects for University-wide long term philanthropic support. The Director will collaborate with the Regional and Principal Giving Programs as well as partner with University Schools and Units to ensure the qualification cultivation and solicitation of highly rated parent prospects. The primary functions of the Director include: Persuasive presentation of the Universitys priority areas for support amongst parents to successfully close leadership annual fund and major gifts of five to seven figures. Development of an annualized marketing program targeted to parents which includes solicitations and prospect and donor engagement activities. Close collaboration with the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs as well as other senior administration faculty and staff to represent the University effectively to its parents and other external collaboration with other University offices and departments the Director provides parents with the resources information and opportunities to support their students learning empower their students to take personal responsibility for social and academic choices and understand their students experiences at the University.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills. The skill to motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors. Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive research university setting; and exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork initiative critical thinking good judgment consistency of output timeliness of follow-through and strength of written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
3-5 years of demonstrated successful experience in higher education development or transferrable experience.
