Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY Advanced Cybersecurity GRC Intern

The Cybersecurity Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) intern will serve as a member of Kinglands Security Office supporting GRC functions. This role provides hands-on experience in security compliance audit preparation risk assessment and control implementation. The intern will collaborate with development operations and client-facing teams to help ensure Kingland meets security and compliance obligations while strengthening its overall risk posture.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES Advanced Cybersecurity GRC Intern

  • Assist in preparing for security audits (e.g. SOC 2 ISO 27001 NIST).
  • Collect organize and validate evidence for internal and external audit requests.
  • Help track remediation activities for security findings and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to policy procedure and standards documentation.
  • Support vendor risk management and third-party security reviews.
  • Assist with risk assessments including evaluating technical and organizational controls.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining security awareness and training content.
  • Collaborate with security and business teams to implement and monitor security controls.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Advanced Cybersecurity GRC Intern

  • Currently enrolled in a two- or four-year institution with a focus on cybersecurity information systems or related field.
  • Familiarity with common security frameworks (NIST ISO SOC).
  • Understanding of basic cybersecurity concepts such as authentication encryption and access control.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to research analyze and document security and compliance topics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

PREFERRED SKILLS Advanced Cybersecurity GRC Intern

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Exposure to security tools (e.g. SAST/DAST results vulnerability management tools).
  • Experience with technical writing or policy documentation.
  • Familiarity with project management or workflow tools (e.g. Jira Confluence etc.).

  • Kingland offers a modern office location in Ames Iowa.
